What Happens When You Ask Youth and Parent Partner Mentors of the Impact Clinical Trials Training Platform to Share Their Top Tips for Partnering in Research?

Thank you to our youth and parent partners for your invaluable contributions!

The first questions asked were:

“Who are we sharing with?”

“Why are we sharing?”

These tips were to inform our IMPaCT patient engagement course, becoming part of the curriculum for the current and next generation of researchers. With that in mind, our mentors agreed that the message would be even more meaningful on video, where trainees could see them, hear them, and connect with their words that are coming from the heart.

From there, our mentors eagerly embraced the task. What follows is a collection of insights from a diverse group of youth and parent partner contributors, diverse in the broadest sense, including their reasons for engaging, their lived experiences, and the perspectives they bring to research.

The Top Ten Tips from Youth and Parents for Partnering in Research offer a powerful statement about what matters to youth and parent partners and serve as a reminder that what is important to each person can differ, and that these differences are essential to recognize, value, and include.
