Kelsey Cochrane

Dr. Kelsey Cochrane is a Registered Dietitian and Assistant Professor of Nutrition at the University of Saskatchewan. She completed her in B.Sc. in Nutrition and Dietetic Practicum at the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Health Authority in 2014. Dr. Cochrane practiced as a Registered Dietitian in Saskatoon from 2014-2018 in clinical and industry roles. She completed her Ph.D. in Human Nutrition at the University of British Columbia in 2023, focusing on clinical trials, maternal nutrition, human milk, and developmental origins of health and disease. Dr. Cochrane’s research program aims to advance perinatal and nutritional practices to optimize health outcomes for pregnant individuals and their babies. She is particularly focused on supporting breastfeeding, evaluating how modifiable factors influence human milk composition, and exploring the impact of antenatal colostrum expression on lactogenesis and birth outcomes. Dr. Cochrane gave birth to her daughter Lucy in April 2025, and her personal experience with pregnancy, postpartum, and breastfeeding have provided invaluable insight into this important time period and the gaps that persist in supporting this population. Outside of the research world, Dr. Cochrane enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants, going on walks, and practicing yoga.
