Taylor Morriseau

Dr. Morriseau (Peguis First Nation) is an embedded researcher within the First Nations Health and Social Secretariat of Manitoba (FNHSSM). She received her PhD from the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Manitoba with a focus on gene-environment interactions underlying type 2 diabetes among First Nations youth. At FNHSSM, she works with an interdisciplinary team to strengthen First Nations capacity for biobanking, clinical trials, and data sovereignty initiatives. She also has an interest in science policy as an advisor/board member with CIHR-IHDCYH, Research Canada, and the Native BioData Consortium.

She presently sits on the executive Indigenous Health Committee within the Accelerating Clinical Trials (ACT) Consortium. She was motivated to join IMPaCT due to the stark underrepresentation and/or exclusion of First Nations within or leading clinical trials. She aims to align her work with community-identified priorities, embed First Nations methodologies, and uplift data sovereignty principles in this space.

Outside of research, she is a new mom passing on her interests in gardening, hockey, and music to a lively little girl.
