Alexandra King

Dr. Alexandra King is a member of Nipissing First Nation (Ontario), the Cameco Chair in Indigenous Health & Wellness at the University of Saskatchewan, & co-leads the Pewaseskwan (Indigenous Wellness Research Group). Alexandra supports Indigenous communities in improving health & wellness outcomes at the individual, family & community levels. She brings leadership skills in culturally safe & responsive research & care. Her work is grounded in reconciliation, etuaptmumk (Two-eyed Seeing), bringing together Indigenous & Western worldviews or forms of knowledge, & Ethical Space—which needs to be created when peoples with disparate worldviews engage with each other.

Alexandra serves on many local, national & international initiatives. She co-leads both the Indigenous & EDI platforms for the Canadian Network on Hepatitis C (CanHepC). She is co-visionary of the Indigenous Peoples Engagement & Research Council (IPERC), which comprises Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Holders, people with lived/living experience of health conditions & Indigenous health leaders from across Canada, which will guide the Cardiac Arrhythmia Network of Canada (CANet), the Canadian Heart Function Alliance & the Brain-Heart Interconnectome on culturally safe & responsive heart care & research.

Alexandra is a Sex & Gender Champion, & has supported the establishment of the Department of Indigenous Health & Wellness in the College of Medicine.
